A Prayer to Stand in Your Armor
Lord God, Your arm is not too short to save, nor Your ear too dull to hear. We confess that our sins have built barriers we could never tear down. When there was no one to intercede, Your own arm brought salvation. Thank You for Jesus, our Redeemer, who stood in the gap for us and brings peace to those far and near.
Keep us from playing with fire. Where we have drifted close to temptation, give us wisdom to step away, to honor marriage and guard our hearts. Where we have already been burned, heal us, Lord. You promised to restore the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the contrite.
Make us strong in You and in Your mighty power. Clothe us in Your own armor: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Help us stand. Bless our homes, so children honor their parents and parents raise them in Your discipline and instruction. At work and at school, help us serve with good will, as to You and not to men.
Open our hands to share our bread with the hungry and to welcome anyone who feels left out. Guide us always, Lord, and make us like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. In Jesus' name, amen.
Amen.
