In the last article we tackled the idea that a wall is immoral. In this segment we’ll be exploring if a wall is cost-effective because many have been saying:
“Walls don’t work”
“ They’re too expensive” ,
“ They’re an old way of doing things”.
“ It’s a waste of money”, and
“ There’s not an emergency at the border”
Again we don’t bring up these issues to be contentious, but we bring them up because they’re causing contentions that need to be addressed.
Jesus says “ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God”( Matthew 5:9). It’s not just enough for us to keep the peace, but we must make peace by getting down to the root of the issues, and exposing the lies. Satan is the author of confusion, and loves for us to remain in the dark so we keep tripping over stuff.
My objective is to bring light and stop all the confusion because While we’re distracted fighting each other about little things, he goes about stealing, killing, and destroying innocent life. So with that said , I am conducting this research with the Kingdom Agenda to save lives, glorify God and make peace.
Question#1: Is there currently an emergency at the southern border?
Times reported Nancy Pelosi saying there is “no emergency” at the border,
“ It’s not an emergency what’s happening at the border, it’s an humanitarian challenge to us”
Pelosi, goes on to say,
“ You want to talk about a national emergency, let’s talk about today…of the epidemic of gun violence in America”
But, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen says,
“ Illegal immigration , is simply spiraling out of control, and threatening public safety, and national security. We face a crisis, a real and sustained crisis at our borders. We have tens of thousands of illegal aliens arriving at our doorstep every month. We have drugs , criminals, and violence spilling into our country every week. And we have smugglers and traffickers profiting from human misery every single day, exploiting people who are seeking a better life. Deceiving them about our laws, and fueling everything from sexual slavery to child exploitation to the smuggling of illicit goods.”
There has been a rise from the 40-year lows last April, back to the previous level. Washington Post reports an increase on pace to 100,000 of unauthorized crossing which hasn’t been seen in at least a decade. The reason many believe there is “no emergency” at the border is that they are using information only up to 2017 that doesn’t account for the influx of immigration that happened in 2018 and that’s happening now.
Washington Post reports,
“ Democrats, continue to say that migration is at a historic low , when that’s simply no longer the case . That was true two years ago , but that is not the reality right now. Large number of people are arriving at the border , coming across , that need to be cared for , and the resources aren’t available right now to do that in a safe and effective way . We saw for example the death of two children , two Guatemalan children in December who had just come over the border in these large groups. That does point to a humanitarian emergency.”
The New York times reports “ The number of migrant families crossing the southwest border has once again broken records, with unauthorized entries nearly double what they were a year ago”. So is there an emergency at the border? Major news sources, and officials are saying yes. But will a wall really help solve this dilemma?
Question #2 : Will a Wall HELP solve the humanitarian emergency?
Tim Ballard, who worked at the border and now runs a non-profit to stop the sex-trafficking of children believes the wall is a law enforcement tool to help curb the sex-trafficking of children.
In an interview with Fox New’s Ingram Angle Ballard says,
“ The wall is a law enforcement operation , it forces the traffickers to move their people, move their kids through a place where there is alert agents , there’s high technology, and these kids can be rescued.”
Because if these people are taken to unprotected parts of the borders by cartels, then they can be easily exploited where they are out of reach to law enforcement. Ballard give the story of a little girl Lilliana who was kidnapped from her village , and sex-trafficked up to New York where she was raped 30-50 times a day for money.
“ This little girl is kidnapped from her village , 11 years old , she’s kept , groomed in central America for two years, and so these traffickers need to get these kids to make their big money into the United States. This little girl was trafficked through the wall less section of the border. She’s forced into New York City; 30-50 times a day raped for money in this country…and the sad thing is the wall would have likely saved her…why? The wall is a law enforcement operation.
He then says how a five year old boy was helped saved with having a wall.
“ A five year old boy who was kidnapped in Mexicali , by an American trafficker… but there is a wall there . So he was forced to move this child , through the port of entry and we caught him.
Ballard goes on to say,
“ What this guy was doing…was kidnapping Mexican children , making child porn in his makeshift studio…and so the wall saved this little boy.
In the early 90’s The Border patrol saw a 97% drop in illegal entries in San Diego as well as Yuma, Arizona by building a wall. Internationally walls have worked in Israel, and many other places where terrorism was happening.
Fox News interviews former Mayor of Shiloh , Israel David Rubin on this issue.
“ Between 2010, and 2012 there were 55,000 illegal immigrants into Israel . The Israeli government made a decision that they were going to build the wall…a high tech steel wall on the southern border , 2016 there were 11 illegal immigrants who entered Israel. Then they raised the height of the wall an additional several feet , and in 2017, there was not one illegal immigrant , that made it into Israel.
Common sense check: If walls don’t work then what’s the point of a house? What’s the point of any structure? Do not those walls help give structured living, and protect a person’s possession from being easily taken or stolen? When I hear people says walls don’t work it’s intellectual dishonesty.
A wall is not an all in all solution to the humanitarian emergency but is part of the solution to encourage legal immigration. It sends the clear message “ Come in the right way ”.
Going back to the wisdom of Jesus, he was talking to the Pharisees about into the kingdom. Now this is different than entering our country, but the principal is still the same. Jesus said to the pharisees ,
“ Very truly I tell you… anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.”John 10:1-2
Now , America is not the Kingdom of God ,so to speak, it isn’t our final home, because as a believers our Kingdom is “not of this world”…it’s in heaven with Christ. But the principle is still the same.
When we enter the Kingdom of God , we must go through Jesus – he’s our port of entry. By going through Jesus we are submitting ourselves to the authority of God, and surrendering any ill intents we have behind. Many people try to overlook Jesus because they’re holding on to some illegal attitude or activity. They try to enter heaven’s gates through their own merit, and self-righteousness. They try to overlook the miracles that he did, and the sacrifice he gave. They try to climb into getting to know God in their own way, which has really turned into cults, and harming a lot of people.
And the same thing is true for us in our country , many people are trying to get in by some other way instead of the official ports of entry. Yet this in turn puts them into the hands of Mexican and American criminals. Just as when we don’t submit ourselves to God it opens us up a whole another realm to be enslaved to deceitful lust, and wicked spirits. Many time people see barriers of something as negative, and keeping people apart, but they don’t realize that barriers are also to protect, and breed respect amongst people. For example we all have boundaries in our relationship . Ask any man or woman in their right mind how they about another person getting too touchy feely with their spouse? From a lack of boundaries marriages have fallen apart, children grow up not feeling loved, and people have caught STD’s by sleeping with the wrong person. So this southern border wall is not something to separate people for the hey of it, but to encourage law and order for the benefit of all people. Its sends a clear message “Come here the right way”. Don’t put you and your family at risk with cartels, but do things honestly.
According to the border patrol, and those who work on the border . A wall is of great help in decreasing illegal immigration and encouraging legal immigration into the states. It cuts down on the workload of trying to chase illegals down, and forces smugglers, cartels, and even those trying to make the dangerous trip NOT TO DO IT THAT WAY.
Reality check: What’s better? To chase somebody down or have a wall that makes them come directly to you?
So does having a border wall help solve the humanitarian emergency at the US-Mexican border? According to officials and those who work on the border day to day…Yes, because it reduces human-trafficking, and encourage legal entry so people really needing help can get it at the ports of entry.
Question #3 : Is the Wall is too expensive?
The US budget is a little over 4 trillion dollars, 15 billion for a wall is less than 1% of the budget. 15 billion of the 4 trillion dollar US budget is 0.375%. I keep thinking back to Tim Ballard’s story of the young girl who was trafficked across an unprotected part of the border, and raped over 30 times a day by pedophiles in New York…Honest to God if it took all the US budget to keep things like that from happening it’s more than worth it, but in this case it’s not even half of 1% from the US budget.
Question #4: Is the wall Practically Impossible to do?
While watching “ Adam ruins” a college humor production he says in “ Why a wall won’t stop immigration” that a wall is “ Practically impossible to do”. Now let’s think about this… The Great Wall of China is over 13,000 miles long according to travelchina.com and cuts through some pretty rough terrain. It averages a height of 20-23 feet. So how does ancient China build a huge wall over 13,000 miles long without the tools and tech we have today, yet, people are saying we can’t build a 2,000 mile wall that’s not even half the size of the great wall of China? This isn’t honest.
So is a 2,000 mile US-Mexican Border wall cost effective? According to the evidence, Yes. It’s also the moral thing to do because it curbs human-trafficking, and encourages people to enter the country in the right way through the ports of entry so they get the help needed. A wall isn’t an all in all solution to solve the humanitarian emergency at the border, but it’s part of the solution. Yet many are excluding it from even being even a part of the solution, even when the evidence shows it helps prevent human-trafficking, crime, and violence at the border. The most grievous thing is the sex-trade of children going unchecked at unprotected parts of the border. The Bible says it’s better for a person to be thrown into the sea with a millstone around their neck than to cause one these little ones to stumble (Luke 17:2-3). The price for the wall is not even 1% of the US budget. How much is a child worth? The Bible says priceless (Matthew 19:14). The ancient Chinese built a wall over five times the length we’re calling for, and if this wall only saved one life like Lilliana from being brutally raped over 30 times a day by criminals in the US and Mexico then I have to say it’s more than worth it!
